Fall weekends in Douglas County: Lone Creek Farms, Castle Rock Restaurant Week, and what homes cost near Lone Tree

October 2, 2026 · 6 min read · Tom Stafford

Lone Creek Farms through November 1, Castle Rock Restaurant Week (Oct 2–11), and Lone Tree’s Oct 4 festival, plus a public listing snapshot for Lone Tree and Castle Rock.

Fall in Douglas County isn’t one Saturday on the calendar. It’s a stretch of weekends you can actually plan around — a farm you can go back to through November, a downtown restaurant week, and neighborhood festivals that make the place feel like home before you’ve even signed.

Here’s a mortgage-broker’s take on what’s happening this week, with a light nod to DougCo Drop for the full event lists (this edition).

The season-long stop: Lone Creek Farms (Franktown)

Lone Creek Farms on Hwy 83 is open Thursdays–Sundays through November 1 (plus Wednesday, Oct 14 for Douglas County Fall Break). Pumpkins, pig races, a candy cannon, hay rides, and — new this year — Harvest Glow lights Friday–Sunday nights starting Oct 2. Mutton bustin’ for little kids kicks in Oct 17. Season passes make sense if you’re going more than twice.

That’s the kind of “we can do this again next weekend” amenity people quietly underwrite when they choose Douglas County over a shorter commute with nothing for the kids.

This weekend’s local hooks

  • Castle Rock: Downtown Restaurant Week runs Fri Oct 2 through Sun Oct 11 — a good excuse to walk Main Street and see how the town feels after dark.
  • Lone Tree: City Fall Festival at Schweiger Ranch, Sun Oct 4, 11am–3pm (free). Saturday also has Oktoberfest at Schweiger Ranch (2:30–6:30pm). Park Meadows keeps drawing new dining — Thirsty Lion is listed for late 2026 at 8335 Park Meadows Center Dr.
  • Also worth a look: Fall Fest at Alidade Brewing (Castle Rock, Sat 10/3), Sterling Ranch Fall Festival (Sat 10/3), Castle Rock Trail Festival / liveBIG run (Sat 10/3).

Full calendars and ticket details live on DougCo Drop and the organizers’ pages — don’t treat this as a complete listings feed.

Quick market snapshot (public list data)

As of the week of Sept 28, 2026 (Altos Research city reports):

CityMedian list priceActive inventoryMedian days on market
Lone Tree$1,180,0004549
Castle Rock$796,25050470

List prices aren’t sale prices, and one week isn’t a forecast. Lone Tree’s thinner inventory and higher list median vs. Castle Rock’s deeper active stock are the useful contrast if you’re comparing Park Meadows–adjacent living to I-25 / new-construction corridors. For city pages we already publish: Castle Rock, Parker, Castle Pines, Highlands Ranch, and the Douglas County hub.

Why this matters for a mortgage conversation

Amenities and “what’s open this weekend” don’t set your rate. They do show up in how long you stay, whether the payment still feels right after HOA and metro-district mills, and whether you’re buying lifestyle or just square footage. If you’re touring Lone Tree, Castle Rock, or farther south toward Franktown this fall, bring the address — we’ll shop lenders against the full monthly picture.
